The Indian government has launched the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ scheme, providing drones to women self-help groups (SHGs) under the DAY-NRLM initiative, with a budget of Rs 1,261 crore. Guidelines include forming an Implementation and Monitoring Committee for effective planning and execution. The scheme aims to supply 14,500 SHGs with drones for agricultural services from 2024-2026, offering 80% financial assistance for drone purchases. Training for SHG members will include drone piloting and agricultural applications. The drone package includes essential equipment and support services to enhance farming efficiency. Additionally, interest subvention will be provided on loans for cost balance.
