Gotion High-Tech is set to begin construction on a $1.24 billion gigafactory for electric vehicle batteries in Morocco in June 2026. The facility will be powered by ACWA Power’s 500-megawatt wind plant, featuring a 2,000-megawatt-hour energy storage solution. ACWA Power has signed a Joint Development Agreement with Gotion Power Morocco for this project, costing $800 million. The gigafactory will initially produce 20 gigawatt-hours of battery capacity, with plans to expand to 100 GWh. The investment could grow from $1.3 billion to $6.5 billion, marking a significant advancement in Morocco’s EV battery production capabilities.
