Brett Paul Trevillian, director of Metal Alpha, has been sentenced to three years in prison for forgery related to his trading strategy, ‘The Gold Method’. Convicted in Sydney District Court, he forged performance reports while managing AlphaThorn, misleading investors about successful returns. ASIC’s investigation revealed he falsified documents between April and October 2019, including the signatures of accountants, to gain financial advantage. ASIC welcomed the sentencing as part of its efforts to combat corporate misconduct. Trevillian was arrested in July 2023, with his case set for further review in December 2024 to assess his eligibility for an intensive correction order.
