Catalio Capital, a burgeoning life sciences fund led by 33-year-old George Petrocheilos, has gained notable backing from prominent investors including Thoma Bravo’s Orlando Bravo and KKR’s Henry Kravis. Catalio’s rapid rise, amassing over $1.3 billion in assets, is attributed to Petrocheilos’s relentless networking and connections, including ties to renowned geneticist Jacob Vogelstein, whose father helped incubate several companies. Despite a challenging biotech investment environment, Catalio has achieved over $300 million in returns and facilitated 20 exits in just four years. The firm is expanding into private credit and aims to evolve into a healthcare-focused private equity model.
