Johns Hopkins University (JHU) has partnered with the Ajit Isaac Foundation (AIF) to establish palliative care centres in underserved rural areas of India. With only 1-2% of the 8-10 million Indians needing palliative care currently having access, this initiative aims to bridge the healthcare equity gap. AIF is set to launch a 63-bed Palliative Care Centre in Tumkur by early 2025, which will serve as a model for training community caregivers and healthcare staff. The collaboration will also include research fellowships, curriculum development, and workshops to promote advancements in palliative care practices both locally and internationally.
