The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) and Creative Wales have launched a free skills and development program for Welsh music festivals and freelancers. The initiative, primarily delivered online, includes 24/7 networking opportunities. Festival sessions will address topics like volunteering, financial planning, and accessibility, while freelancers will focus on contracts, pay, and mental health support. AIF chief executive John Rostron highlighted the importance of supporting freelancers, who often lack consistent employer support. Up to 40 festivals may attend AIF’s Festival Congress. Tour manager Suzi Green emphasized the program’s potential to address challenges in the freelancing landscape within the festival industry.
