The City of London Corporation has approved a £191 million funding package for essential repairs and upgrades at the Barbican Centre. This investment supports phase one of a five-year Barbican Renewal Programme aimed at modernizing the iconic venue, enhancing accessibility, energy efficiency, and preserving its Grade II listed status. The funding represents 80% of the necessary amount for the initial phase, while a fundraising campaign will launch in 2025 for further restorations. With over 1.5 million annual visitors, the Barbican Centre plays a vital cultural and economic role, and construction is expected to start in 2027, completing by its 50th anniversary in 2032.
