The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) has selected seven proposals to establish the first Artificial Intelligence Factories in Europe, marking a significant step in enhancing AI capabilities. This €1.5 billion initiative combines EU and national funding, aimed at creating a robust ecosystem for AI development. The selected sites include Barcelona, Bologna, Kajaani, Bissen, Linköping, Stuttgart, and Athens, involving 15 EU Member States. These facilities will deploy advanced supercomputers and are set to be operational by 2025-2026. The initiative promises to double EuroHPC computing capacity and invites further proposals by February 2025.
