In 2024, Qatar’s venture capital funding surged 135% year-on-year to a record QR115 million, contrasting with declines in global and Mena VC funding. Qatar now ranks fourth in regional transactions, capturing 5% of total deals and climbing to sixth in Mena funding, quadrupling its share from 2023. Fintech dominated, accounting for 29% of deals and 41% of total funding. The Qatar Development Bank (QDB) was pivotal, participating in 20 of 31 deals and reinforcing the ecosystem through various initiatives. Private sector contributions reached 57% of total investments, aiming for 70% by 2030, reflecting robust growth in Qatar’s VC landscape.
