The third Asia-Pacific Society for Physical Activity (ASPA) Conference, held in November 2023, significantly advanced the field of physical activity research and practice in the Asia-Pacific region. Hosted by Te Hau Kori, a collaboration between Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington and Sport NZ, the event attracted over 320 participants, marking a notable increase in New Zealand attendance. The conference focused on bridging the gap between research and policy, featuring diverse presentations, including those on Indigenous experiences. Feedback highlighted the positive cultural integration, prompting new initiatives like a Māori sub-committee within Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand.
