The adoption of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects to combat climate change is increasing, with a 15% annual growth from 2012 to 2021. According to a World Resources Institute and World Bank report, 297 NBS projects were launched during this period, focusing on flood mitigation, water quality, and erosion control. Despite a 23% funding increase in Sub-Saharan Africa, reaching over $12 billion, investment remains below the $100 billion annual infrastructure financing gap. The report categorizes projects into green-grey, green, and small-scale, emphasizing the need for more investment and integration of NBS into policies and plans to enhance climate resilience.
