New Zealand’s Investment in Business Events

New Zealand’s business events sector is set to receive NZ$3 million (US$1.7 million) in government funding to attract international conferences and incentives, projected to generate over NZ$30 million in additional spending. Announced by Minister of Tourism Louise Upston, this investment will bolster the Conference Assistance Programme and support organizations, including universities, in hosting global events. The funding aims to enhance New Zealand’s competitiveness in the US$1.6 trillion business events industry. Additionally, three new convention centers are expected to create 1,400 jobs and contribute over NZ$150 million in direct spending, benefiting the economy significantly.
