Plantible, a startup specializing in the extraction of RuBisCO (Rubi protein) from duckweed, has raised $30 million in a Series B funding round led by Piva Capital and Siddhi Capital. The funds will support scaling production at its Texas lemna farm to fulfill multi-million-dollar agreements with large food companies, aiming to increase revenue tenfold in the next year. Rubi protein, a complete protein with a neutral taste and all essential amino acids, has applications in various food products, particularly as an egg replacer. Despite a cautious investment climate in foodtech, Plantible’s innovative approach and existing contracts have attracted investor confidence.
