Four First Nations have formed a partnership, Atenro, with InnVest Hotels to acquire a majority stake in Hilton Québec, which will continue to be managed by Hilton. This collaboration involves the Naskapi Nation, the Mi’gmaq of Gespe’gewa’gi, the Huron-Wendat Nation, and the Cree Nation, aiming to enhance economic participation in Quebec’s hotel industry. The initiative underscores Indigenous communities’ commitment to sustainable investments and financial independence while promoting their cultural heritage. Employment opportunities for First Nations members will be prioritized, with current jobs at the hotel remaining unaffected. The acquisition reflects a significant step in fostering economic development and heritage preservation.
