The proportion of female investment professionals in the UK rose to 27% in 2023, up from 24% the previous year, according to Level 20 and the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association’s report. The UK ranks third in Europe for gender diversity, behind France and Sweden. Women occupy 15% of senior investment roles, increasing from 12%. However, representation on investment committees and as board members is lower at 16% and 19%, respectively. Experts emphasize the need for an inclusive culture and advocate for parental support to further improve gender diversity in the industry, particularly as private equity lags behind venture capital.
