On International Women’s Day, DealStreetAsia unveiled its 2024 report on the gender funding gap in India. While venture funding for women-led startups rebounded in 2024, their share of overall fundraising decreased to 8.8%. Solely women-founded startups raised only $118.6 million, representing just 0.7% of total funding, while all-male teams captured 91.2%. The report highlights a troubling trend despite a slight recovery. In related news, Indonesian startup CROWDE appointed a new CEO amid fraud allegations, and several companies, including Qoala and Julo, laid off staff as the region’s startup ecosystem faces challenges.
