Johns Hopkins University (JHU) has partnered with the Ajit Isaac Foundation (AIF) to enhance palliative care services for terminally ill patients in rural India. An MoU was signed to establish care centers, addressing the significant gap in access, where only 1-2% of the 8-10 million Indians in need receive adequate care. AIF plans to open a 63-bed center in Tumkur by early 2025, which will serve as a training hub for caregivers. The collaboration also includes developing research fellowships, curricula, and hosting workshops to promote best practices in palliative care, ultimately aiming for equitable healthcare access across India.
