Defining Mobility

This report defines the mobility industry as encompassing the production and distribution of goods and services that facilitate the movement of people and products. This broad definition highlights both obvious resources like automobiles and airplanes and less visible ones such as telecommunications and insurance. Previous definitions focused on sectors like autonomous vehicles and electrification, but this report expands the definition to include battery, composite materials, semiconductor manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, and professional services. A workgroup of industry experts identified relevant NAICS codes for a more comprehensive understanding of the industry’s contributions.
